Dedicated to continuing the hard work of breed founders Everett Smith and Mike Muir,  producing the best American Sugarbush Harlequin Draft and Stonewall Sport Horses, while spreading awareness of this breed and good equine stewardship.

As Founding Members of the American Sugarbush Harlequin Draft Association, we work with other like-minded breeders and members to grow this rare bred and educate for the best welfare for the horses.

With Mr. Smith’ blessing, we show in harness under the Sugarbush Hitch Company name, founded  over 25 years ago and continue the Sugarbush Harlequin Draft Project, he started.

The name Sugarbush Draft comes form Mr. Smiths' beloved farm in the Sugar Maple forests of Southern Ohio. Mr. Smith raised Percheron and ran a carriage company. He came across an article about a cross-country carriage caravan  with a team of Mike Muir' Stonewall Sporthorses. He liked what he saw in them and contacted Mike.  In the next few years, Everett bred his top mares to Stonewall Rascal and Stonewall Rebel.

Thus, began his program to record and produce the full dotted drafts until his retirement.
